The Maze

I stand alone, darkness surrounds me.
Somewhere, my heart's desire.
Near or far, I know not.

Voices call from the dark, entreating.
Distraction? Deadly Peril? Or guides?
Hidden traps surround me.

At last, I begin my quest, damning myself for time wasted in fearful indecision.

Moving at a snail's pace while my soul cries for me to outrun the wind.

Will I achieve my goal? Or lie broken in some corner?
I pray for the best as I fear the worst.
Still, if do not seek, I cannot find.

I bow my head and beseech the Powers who watch to aid me.
And take a hesitant step into the maze.
